After launching his career as a commercial and music video director, HUSSEIN SHAWKAT quickly emerged as one of the Middle East most artistic and boldest TV series directors. Characterized by his very artistic visual frames, casting actors and actresses in never-before roles, and introducing new talents that grow into stars; this has become his cinematic signature.

His directing resume includes "Hekayat Banat"- season1, which was a turning point in the history of Egyptian drama; a benchmark for all following series in art direction, in building relevant characters and timeless social issues. Another benchmark in tackling prickly topics: "Qoulob" TV series, which was daringly-new and raised a lot of controversial buzz around marital relationships, different religions and friendships.

In 2017 "The Black Crows" was one of a kind: a series that explored the alleys of ISIS camps and unveiled its true practices to recruit and abuse men, women and children. The series featured a mix of the Middle East actors and actresses collaborating to expose a terrorist body at a time when it was active and near. Hussein knew he and his team were making a big change, when they received threatening letters and warnings to stop shooting the series.

Moving to less dangerous grounds, HUSSEIN directed the suspence-packed 'ElHala G" series in 2018, and the light-hearted romantic comedy series "Carmen" in 2019.

Graduated with a double major from UCLA: bachelor of Arts (Film) & the AUC Bachelor of Science (Computer Science).
